Bamboo Paradise Resort

Being prosperous for a century, Taiwan’s bamboo industry faced a downturn in the 1990s. A large number of bamboo art factories shifted overseas and many local bamboo forests were replaced by more profitable tea farms. In 1997, David Chen, the founder of Ching-Chu Bamboo Culture Park, established it at his hometown— Fushan, Chushan. He devoted himself to the promotion of the bamboo culture and industry. Not only did he promote bamboo ecology, production, art, and creation there, but he also tried hard to pass on the bamboo craft techniques to the next generation. Now, after 20 years of efforts, it develops into a social enterprise. This park, supported by bamboo growers, business operators and bamboo art craft creators, attempts to integrate bamboo ecology and production with recreation and entertainment. Here you can experience and learn how bamboo is skillfully applied to every aspect of life such as food, clothing, living, transportation, recreation, and so on.
Ching-Chu Bamboo Culture Park is an ecological educational park where you can see more than 100 different living species of bamboos and experience the special local Taiwanese culture and innovative bamboo industry.
The bamboo charcoal kiln was built in 2004 as a model to produce biochar. 4-6-year-old Mengzong Bamboo is selected and processed through cutting, drying and high-temperature carbonization. As an educational center to promote the production of standard bamboo charcoal, bamboo vinegar and other related products, Ching-Chu has developed new production directions and created business opportunities for traditional bamboo industry. Visitors may experience the power of bamboo and witness how sustainable it is. From bamboo shoots, stalks to its leaves, every part of bamboo serves its purpose, and even the eliminated part of bamboo can turn into something magical and natural.
