Zhongxing New Village is located in Nantou County, Taiwan, which housed the administrative office during Taiwan Provincial Government period. [Traditional “Long-Fong” Scholar Cake]
The “Long-Fong” Scholar Cake is a delicious tea time snack made by combining dried logan from Zhongliao, Nantou (which is dried by wood fire) with fillings made from local pineapple based on a secret recipe. The name “Long-Fong” means “dragon” and “phoenix” in Chinese, which is an extension of early temple culture in Taiwan. Devotees in the past and nowadays all project their hope to deities, in which they aspire their own offspring can become dragons and phoenixes (“dragon” is for sons while “phoenix” is for daughters, which represents “success” in Chinese culture). Meanwhile, the pronunciation of Logan is “guiyuan” in Chinese, which means “rich and reunion.”
